PROJET KIDS

CHAMBÉRY 2020

Two years ago, I made a piece called LES GRANDS, at Malraux national theatre in Savoie, with children and teenagers from the city of Chambéry. LES GRANDS is a story about generation: adults in their forties who are reflecting upon their childhood and teenager years.
On stage three adults-actors are each accompanied by one child and one teenager. Discussions and dances   reveal their views and worlds where layouts and ratios can ben seen as games and systems which suggest an other equity. Three existences over time that can answer and complement one another.
We have shown this performance in numerous theaters and festivals in France, and we have shared the touring experience with these young actors.
This season, we present LES GRANDS in Chambéry again, and we had the wish to share our practices of dance, theater, arts in general on a larger scale, with even more young people.
And thus was born the PROJET KIDS.
> Wednesday 11, Thursday 12, Friday 13 March at 8 p.m.
> Tuesday 17, Wednesday 18 and Thursday 19 March at 8 p.m.

PROJET KIDS is about occupying with children and teenagers the Malraux theater space for one month, by inviting them to share with the artists what is life like at the theater, its performance spaces, its movie theater, its exhibit galleries, its backstage and corridors.

PROJET KIDS IS :

  • A TEENAGERS’ CAMP

where we’re going to gather about forty teenagers and experiment with them what would an university of the arts would be like. There are 40 of them, we are 4 artists. Each day we’ll share our practices and questions: dance, music, theater, design, but also cinema and sound design. Full days where we’ll organise practice and theory time periods as well as presentations of these different artistic professions.
> From March 2 to 6, 2020

  • A NEWSPAPER AND A RADIO

which we’ll make with other Kids in parallel to the CAMP so that to report on the project as a whole. Creating with them an editorial line. Every day, these young reporters will produce a newspaper as well as short radio stories which will give an insight on up-to date events, the kids project’s backstage and life at the theater.
> From March 2 to 6, 2020

  • A GRAND DANCE

The Grand Dance’s principle is a choreography that can be danced by everyone and everywhere. Over a hundred primary school children will learn a sequence of simple movements in their classrooms, with their teachers. And in April at the Malraux theater,  they will dance it all together in unison, in front of us, the audience.
> Friday March 13 at 6.30 p.m. and Saturday March 14 at 4 p.m.

Within KIDS, there are also films screening, EXHIBITIONS-INSTALLATIONS : POÈMES MONUMENT AND BATHS, A DANCE PARTY, PERFORMANCES, which we wanted to share with everyone, adult, teenager or child audience member.
